|
If you are thinking of adding another dog to your family, a rescue dog is one of the best alternatives. Many breeds have a group of devoted fans who volunteer to operate organizations that accept homeless and unwanted dogs and place them into adoptive homes. These are great dogs whose only fault was a less than responsible owner. The folks running these organizations are true dog lovers and experts in the breed. They treat the dogs for any medical problems, have them spayed or neutered and vaccinated. They also temperament test them and carefully match them with families where they will fit in well. Camp Woof gives primary support to Heartland Aussie Rescue. We will add links to other rescue organizations in the future. Please feel free to call us about either of these breeds or about rescue in general. |

The following list includes Central Ohio organizations that are either shelters, organizations without shelters that work with a network of foster homes, or education and support organizations. All deserve your support as a dog lover, please check them out. |

The Humane Society of Delaware County operates a shelter and adopts dogs and cats. They have a well equipped clinic and do spay and neuter and other needed veterninary services for the animals in the care. The society also operates a low-cost spay/neuter clinic available to the public. |

The Columbus Dog Connection is a consortium of shelters and rescues working together. They sponsor many events and have an active website. |

|
Forgotten 4 Paws is a Lancaster-based volunteer organization working to save homeless dogs and cats. |
||||||||
|
Citizens for Humane Action has been rescuing dogs and cats in the Columbus area since 1975. They have had great success over the years and recently opened a modern shelter in Westerville. |

Above is the new painting we commissioned especially for Heartland Aussie Rescue! It looks even better in person. A pair of lost and worried Aussies may not know it yet, but something very benevolent is smiling down on them, and their ordeal is about to end. The artist who did this for us specializes in dogs and cats and does whimsical scenes like this. Would you like an original portrait of your dog? She can work from photographs and her work is quite reasonable. We may even be able to help by taking pictures of your dog during his stay at Camp Woof.
